Scoring for Cup Competitions

Up until 2003, the number of Local Points (LPs) awarded was used as the basis for all three Cup Competitions.

In 2004  the allocation of points changed to the following method:

For each Cup night, you were awarded two points for each pair you beat on that night, and one point for every pair you tie with.

As an example consider a night on which 18 pairs played.

With the old scoring, the first pair would  have been awarded 36 points, the next pair 30 points and so on down to pair six who would have been awarded 6 points.   Everyone from the seventh pair onwards would have got 0 points.

With the 2004 scoring, the first pair were awarded 34 points, the next pair 32 points and so on down to the last pair who were awarded 0 points.

From 2005 the Match Point percentage score will be used directly as the basis of scoring all three competitions.
